Authenticity check & warranty for Selkirk paddles

Are you craving a masterpiece like a Selkirk Power Air or Luxx Control to elevate your game? With values reaching millions of VND, choosing the right authentic Selkirk Pickleball paddle is not just about the brand, but also about ensuring performance and long-term warranty.
In a market flooded with fakes, how can you avoid wasting your money? Let's go through the most accurate authentication checks below.

I. Check the authenticity of the SELKIRK paddle

1. NFC Authentication Technology: The "Magic Card"

Selkirk Labs is pioneering the use of anti-counterfeit NFC chips on its premium USA models (Project 002, 003, Boomstik).

How to authenticate:

Step 1: Enable NFC on your phone.

Step 2: Gently tap the back of your phone against the paddle's handle cap.

Step 3: Your phone will automatically direct you to Selkirk Labs' authentication page, displaying the correct serial number. If no signal is detected, the product is counterfeit.

⚠️ Note: Older models or Asian versions (Vanguard, Luxx, Halo) do not yet have this chip. Please authenticate using the metal card included in the box.

2. Check Serial Number and Barcode

Each authentic Selkirk paddle is unique. Check the serial number, which is laser-etched or stickered on the paddle body (often near the throat or under the grip tape).
Don't forget to visit Selkirk.com to enter this serial number. If the system recognizes it, congratulations, you own a genuine product!
Note: Counterfeit products often have serial numbers that are mass-produced (many paddles share the same number).

3. "Scrutinizing" Design Details: Distinction through Sophistication

Selkirk is renowned for its exceptional finish. Even the most sophisticated counterfeits struggle to replicate the following details:
Distinctive "S" logo: On authentic paddles, the distance from the pointed tip of the "S" to the edge guard is typically 3.5mm. Counterfeits often have oversized logos, printed too close to the edge, or off-center.
ProSpin Texture surface: Feel the paddle's surface. Genuine Selkirk paddles have a deep, uniform, and grippy texture thanks to their proprietary sandblasting technology. Fake paddles often feel slick or have an uneven texture that easily peels after a few games.
Edge Guard: The edge guard on authentic paddles is flush, smooth, and free of excess glue.

4. Feel of the ball (realistic feel)

Sound: When hit, genuine Selkirk paddles produce a solid, satisfying "pop" sound thanks to their high-quality Polymer honeycomb core. Fake paddles often sound hollow, resonant, and cause an unpleasant vibration in your hand.
Weight: Use a precision scale. Authentic paddles typically have a very low weight discrepancy compared to the manufacturer's stated specifications.

II. SELKIRK Paddle Warranty Policy

✅ Time & format

Pickleball paddles from the Selkirk Sport, Selkirk Labs, and SLK lines with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $99.99 USD or more are covered by a 6-month warranty from the original date of purchase.

Note: This warranty period is applied uniformly across the Asia & Southeast Asia region — shorter than the domestic US market (where Selkirk Sport offers a lifetime warranty, SLK 1 year, Selkirk Labs 2 years).
Warranty Procedure: Customers are required to register their paddle for warranty immediately after purchase and submit a claim directly through the Selkirk website.

📋 Warranty conditions

Paddle defects due to workmanship or manufacturer defects, especially regarding the edge guard.
Applicable only to the original purchaser, non-transferable.
Proof of purchase (purchase date, invoice) is required to verify the warranty period.

⚠️ Cases not covered by warranty

This coverage does not apply to issues including, but not limited to:
• Structural & Face Damage: Handle breaks, face cracks, or loose/damaged end caps.
• Rattling: Loose particles or noise inside the core that do not affect performance.
• Edgeless Paddles: Chips, cracks, or dents to the top or sides of edgeless paddles.
• Wear & Tear: Normal wear and tear, or the natural breakdown, fading, or wearing of graphics and textured surfaces (grit) over time.
• Impact & Misuse: Damage caused by abuse, negligence, drops, hard impacts against courts/nets, or unauthorized user modifications/repairs.
• Replacement Paddles: Replacement paddles issued under a previous claim will not carry any additional warranty.

*Selkirk Sport holds the sole discretion to determine whether a damaged paddle is covered and whether to repair or replace it.*

🚀 Implementation process

1. Go to the Warranty Claims & Registration page on the Selkirk Asia system.
2. Select the product type and click "Submit Claim."
3. Fill in your personal information, Serial Number, purchase date, and upload photos/videos demonstrating the technical defect (especially the edge guard).
4. Selkirk will review and respond with the results (typically within 2 business days).
5. If approved, Selkirk will provide instructions for repair or replacement (customers may be responsible for shipping costs).

Invest in value for long-term training experience

Using a paddle that doesn't meet standard weight and material specifications not only reduces playing performance but also poses an injury risk. Small design flaws can cause improper force transmission, leading to long-term strain on the wrist and elbow.
